The stage awaits the entry of the KTM RC Series
Today, September 9, is a very important day for motorcycling enthusiasts all across the country and all over the world as KTM will launch its two new motorcycles, the RC200 and the RC390. The fully faired cousins of the KTM Duke motorcycles have been in the news for a long time and aficionados have been waiting restlessly to lay their hands on these two products from the Austrian two-wheeler maker.
Powering the KTM RC200 and RC390 are the same engines found on the 200 Duke and 390 Duke respectively. So, the RC200 comes with a 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that puts out 25hp of power and 19Nm of torque. The RC390 on the other hand dons a 373cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that churns out 43hp of power and 35Nm of torque.
The RC motorcycles also share their chassis, instrument cluster, suspension and tyres from their naked siblings. What’s new is the addition of a full fairing that provides the RC series with better aerodynamics. The clip-on handle bars provide aggressive riding stance. The wheelbase also has been reduced from 1,367mm to 1,340mm (+/-15mm) which is likely to give the bikes better flickability.
The RC twins are heavier than their naked counter parts. While 200 Duke weighs 129.5 kgs (dry), the RC 200 tips the scale at 137.5 kgs (dry). The RC390 at 147 kgs (dry) of weight is about 8 kgs heavier than the 390 Duke.
So more or less, everything about the motorcycles is known beforehand. The most important part i.e. the prices of these two motorcycles would be revealed within minutes from now so stay tuned to know more details about the KTM RC series as we cover the event live with loads of images and other juicy details.
