VIDEO: The Ring claims another machine, Renault Megane RS goes airborne at Nürburgring

Renault Megane RS goes airborne at the Ring - 1

Nürburgring race track, nicknamed as “The Green Hell”, is known for its challenging layout. One wrong move and this dream track can turn into a nightmare, even for the most experienced drivers. Sadly, this Renault Megane RS driver found it the hard way. A dashboard camera footage landed in our inbox, courtesy YouTube channel MrSimonwade123, that caught the entire incident on video. The footage was recorded on Sunday September 20, 2015.

Here is the video:

As seen in the video, the driver of the white Megane RS, reportedly travelling in excess of 120 miles per hour, loses control and crashes into the barrier of the race track. The car flips several times before coming to a halt. The driver miraculously escaped with reportedly minor bruises.

Will the driver have to borne the expenses for the damage caused? Another YouTube user named Michael Schulze commented that the car was brand new and so the driver probably has a “Vollkaskoversicherung” (fully comprehensive insurance) on the car which will take care of almost all the financial ramifications, with the exception of a retention of probably 1,000-2,000 Euro. Schulze added that the Nürburgring-Nordschleife is classified as a country road and therefore covered by (German) insurance. There have been court decisions in favor of drivers that wrecked their cars on that “country road”.

Still got the Ring on your To-Do list?
