Video Featuring Amitabh Bachchan And MS Dhoni Hints At Something New From TVS; What Could It Be?

The world came to a screeching halt when the pandemic wreaked havoc earlier this year. The nationwide lockdown which ensued prevented any new launch or product development on the automotive front as well. But humans have evolved so much that we figure out a way to ‘normalize’ any situation. New launches are happening, road tests have begun once again and test mules are being spotted again, out in the open. The automotive industry is trying very hard to get back on its feet.

TVS Motor Company too had some aggressive plans up their sleeves but then the pandemic hit and washed away all the strategies and future plans. A new teaser video has gone online where TVS’ two brand ambassadors, Amitabh Bachchan and MS Dhoni are seen together, teasing the arrival of something new, the video ending with a ‘coming soon’ note.

You know a brand has something big planned when it decides to bring such titans together. They have been individually endorsing different TVS products but this is the first time that both of them have come together for the endorsement of a new product. A few months ago, TVS registered the name Ronin. The maker had also hinted at the arrival of a new motorcycle sometime in 2021 and it will share the same 310 platform on which Apache RR310 and BMW G310 twins are based.

What could it be?

Speculations and rumours have taken over the sphere and it is expected that TVS might come up with a cruiser or an ADV-tourer because they currently don’t have any product in their portfolio which belongs to these segments. They showcased the Zeppelin cruiser at the Auto Expo back in 2018. Apart from displaying the concept version, everything has been pretty silent and non-happening regarding the Zeppelin. It did manage to garner a lot of attention though so TVS might be planning to cash on the interest it generated in the motorcyclists. It boasted of some fancy equipment coupled with a 220cc, single-cylinder engine with E-Boost tech. It would be more feasible to carry the same 310 platform with the speculated cruiser than to develop a new engine altogether, staying true to the concept.

There have been talks about a naked version of the Apache RR 310 too and if that happens, it will be a direct rival to the likes of Bajaj Dominar 400 and KTM Duke 390. But it’s highly unlikely that TVS would ditch the ‘Apache’ moniker if they decide to bring in a naked motorcycle. TVS Ronin, most probably, will mark TVS’ foray in a new segment altogether and going by the speculations and rumours surrounding the same, it could either be a cruiser or an ADV-tourer. Or is it a new scooter?

The video also lays emphasis on the ‘India’s first’ tagline so it would be really interesting to see that what it turns out to be. The video was shot a long time back because Amitabh Bachchan tested positive for Covid-19. He has been majorly associated with TVS Jupiter and on the other hand, MS Dhoni is seen endorsing TVS Star City motorcycle. It is also a possibility that TVS comes up with an all-new product targeted at the mass market because almost everyone in India is familiar with the two faces featured in the video. It could either be a new gearless scooter or a commuter motorcycle.

Then there’s the possibility of it being a service or experience instead of a new product. TVS Motor Company believes in a customer-centric approach towards things so to please their customers and lure in some potential ones, they might also come up with a new service, financial schemes or experience. What’s brewing in TVS Motor Company’s camp? We will have to wait a little more to know more about it.
