As the competition in the Indian two-wheeler segment heats up, good new continue flowing in for Indian motorcycle enthusiast community. After the official launch of global two-wheeler manufacturers like Harley Davidson, Indian Motorcycles and Triumph Motorcycles, India will now witness yet another motorcycle company enter the cruiser motorcycle market some time later this year or early next year.
Latest news suggest that Polaris Industries owned Victory Motorcycles is expected to enter the Indian two-wheeler market soon. Although there is official announcement from Polaris, Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director of Polaris India told BikeAdvice in an interview that they are going to introduce Victory Motorcycles in India. However, Dubey refrained from giving any timeline.
Victory Motorcycle would be the second American motorcycle brand to be brought into India by Polaris, after the launch of the iconic Indian Motorcycles in January 2014.
Victory brand has won a lot of recognition. It has won JD Power North America’s Best Quality Motorcycle Award for 10 consecutive years apart from many other awards. The bikes will be brought in India as a Completely Built Units (CBU).
Victory Motorcycles is reportedly going to be priced under Indian Motorcycles. Dubey says that the lineup will start from somewhere around Rs 20 Lakhs all the way upto 33Lakhs. In comparison, Indian Motorcycles range starts around 26 lakhs. This will place Victory Motorcycles bang opposite Harley Davidson in India. However, Harley Davidson will still enjoy an upper hand till Victory Motorcycles sets up a production facility in India.
India has already witnessed Victory Motorcycles as Polaris sold off the models they had showcased during the 2012 Auto Expo to private buyers. Although no timeline has been provided by Polaris, Victory Motorcycles are expected to have an official launch sometime later this year or early next year.
