It seems like the newer and bigger TVS Apache is closer to launch than we initially expected. Venu Srinivasan, chairman, TVS Motors hinted the arrival of the new, updated Apache, along with two more products, in a matter of next six months. According to the announcement made at the 23rd Annual General Meeting, TVS Motor will introduce a new four-stroke moped, new TVS Victor and the 200cc variant of its much successful Apache by January 2016.

A mysterious TVS motorcycle was spotted during test runs which, after close inspection, has turned out to be the updated Apache. This new announcement clears the air over the cubic capacity of the motorcycle. The upcoming TVS Apache, instead of the speculated 250cc capacity, will arrive with a 200cc motor. TVS will also attempt to grab a share of the commuter segment of motorcycle market with the refreshed variant of its much successful Victor. Srinivasan remained tight-lipped about any further details about the upcoming products.

The current generation Apache RTR 180 delivers 17 bhp and we expect to see a minor bump in the power figure unless TVS has planned a surprise for us along with its new partner BMW-Motorrad. The motorcycle will receive a major design overhaul to keep up with the rising competition. The new Apache’s prime rival in the Indian market would be the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS and the much more premium KTM Duke 200, and TVS will have to try its best to compete against these highly successful products.

Earlier reports suggested that the TVS Victor is expected to receive a 125cc engine that is also seen on the Phoenix. The Victor was always a bigger and more masculine looking motorcycle when compared to the rest of the products in its segment and the upcoming, updated model is likely to inherit that trait.

The upcoming TVS motorcycles look promising for the company’s performance in coming months but it all boils down to the pricing. TVS has to price the Apache 200 and Victor around the Rs 95,000 and Rs 75,000 mark respectively in order to grab audience’s attention. 1. I think, TVS Victor should be priced around INR 65,000 as customers already have option of choosing Bajaj Discover in the market which is more powerful, more mileage, more stylish and little bit cheaper as well when compared to Victor. Then only, it can withstand the tough competition with Discover in the market.

  2. Oh TVS… with all that good tech you have, why are you ALWAYS late to enter the market. So sooooo late.. Please change your marketing strategy or you’ll die a very slow and painful death.
