It is no secret that Toyota and Maruti Suzuki have joined to jointly develop and launch new products. Though all-new products from the partnership are still some time away, Toyota has already been selling the existing Maruti Baleno as the Glanza. The first iteration of the Glanza was more or less a mere rebadge job with very minor changes. However, the new Glanza is set to change that. Let’s take a look at how different the new Glanza and Baleno are from each other.

Design
The front fascia of the Glanza sees major changes over the Baleno. The grille is reminiscent of other Toyotas which is a single slat chrome grille that houses the Toyota badge in the middle. Meanwhile, the exterior design of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is quite differentiated with design elements like the front looks wider thanks to the new fascia.
There’s a new grille that is much larger and it has a mesh design to it. There is also a brushed aluminum belt that runs across the grille and merges into the headlights. The side gets a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear remains more or less similar to the Baleno. All in all, Toyota has put in a lot of effort to differentiate it from the Baleno.
Interior
The overall design and layout of the interiors in Baleno and Glanza are similar. However, both of the cars follow a different theme. The Baleno gets a black and blue dual-tone interior theme. Some elements such as the dashboard insert are finished in aluminum. The Glanza on the other hand gets a dual-tone black and beige theme with many elements finished in piano black.
Features
In terms of features, both the cars come with the same features including the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 6-speakers. Other features include a 360-degree camera and a heads-up display, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, cruise control, auto-folding mirrors, automatic headlamp, auto-dimming IRVM, a sliding center armrest, and rear A/C vents with fast-charging USB ports.
Powertrain
The powertrain in both the premium hatchbacks is exactly the same. Both get a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine which is called K12N. This engine features an integrated starter generator which adds the auto engine start/stop functionality to save more fuel. It produces 89hp and 113nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT. In terms of mileage, both the hatchbacks deliver around 22.9 km/l in the AMT guise.
Warranty
The Glanza comes with a standard warranty of 3 years/1,00,000 kilometers and has an option of an extended warranty of up to 5 years/2,20, 000 kilometers. The Baleno on the other hand comes with a warranty of 2 years/40,000 km.
