If you could recollect, we had reported about Honda’s new 400cc twin engine that could pave way for 400cc versions of the already launched 500s, slated for the Asian markets.

True to the news, Honda has finally revealed their new 400cc lineup of CBR400R, CB400F and the CB400X. The pictures might lure you to believe that these are pictures of the 500, but in fact they are the toned-down variants of the 500cc twins offered in US and European markets.

The new Honda 400s would officially make it to the stands at the Osaka Motor Show this Friday. As reported earlier, the 400 twin is designed more towards linear power delivery than outright performance with max power speculated to be around the 35-40 bhp mark produced at 9500 rpm.

Though we were expecting the 500s to make it to the Indian shores this year, but the launch of the 400s seems more likely. A detuned version would also mean a more competitive pricing against the likes of the Duke 390 that is nearing its official launch. But the option of both wouldn’t be a bad idea at all.

Given the option of a 400 and a 500, what would be your choice and at what prices?

Please bring these fine bikes to the US market. I want to ride them here in Southern California.

  2. Bhushan: Please improve your command of English first before you post any comment(s).
I don’t understand aything on what you are trying to convey here!

  3. I think this has been done to improve mileage, 500cc with a mileage of 20 kmpl will be a flop in India but something with 27-30kmpl would work, anyways it should deliver atleast 39 bhp to beat Ninja 300 or Honda 400cc has to be much cheaper Kawi’s 400.

  4. What Bhushan said is absolutely right. They have all labour without any technical knowledge. Even a normal customer knows more. They are very rude and even they are not they will do what they shouldn’t. i.e. try all means to destroy the Honda engineering excellence achieved with research and development. Even if you raise things to supervisor and even manager they will not believe you and each time very politely would ask to test for another week and then come back. Your bike is guaranteed to lose engine smoothness, preciseness in short interval even if you are a perfect balanced driver and great care taker.
