Yamaha’s performance oriented vehicles such as the R15 and FZ 16 along with the Fazer seems to be selling like hot cakes as far as the performance segment is concerned. However, the firm has been keen to put its foot into the commuter segment. Finally, the firm has unveiled the YBR 110 (pronounced as the YBR One ten) in India which is purely a family commuter. Being a commuter, the bike is decently and well designed and is targeted to the middle income class people who want the additional taste of style in a simple commuter.
Mr. Yukimine Tsuji, CEO & Managing Director, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. said during the launch, “After successfully launching our bikes in the 150cc segment, we have now launched a commuter motorcycle YBR 110 which is stylish and has good ergonomics for comfortable day to day commuting. We have been studying the entry level market and wanted to launch a new bike at an affordable price and that would give satisfactory mileage. Like other Yamaha bikes, YBR 110 carries Yamaha DNA of Performance, Innovation & Design. We are confident that we will replicate the success of our premium segment bikes with the launch of all new YBR 110 in entry level space.”
The YBR 110 runs on a 4-stroke air cooled engine which comes with an electric start facility. The engine is well suited for everyday riding owing to its excellent low end torque. The engine is mated with a 4 speed slick gearbox which boasts of perfectly spaced gear ratios which ensures optimum torque throughout the rpm range and provides for stress free riding erasing the need to shift down every time you enter a congested zone.
The bike also features a stylish & brighter multi-reflector headlight that provides better visibility at night. The wind tunnel aerodynamic silhouette designed cowl gives out a sense of sharpness. The console is modern and easy to read which also includes a fuel meter. The grab rail and the sporty graphics add to the stylish looks of the bike. Even though the fuel tank has a chiseled finish giving it a modern and a stylish look, the side panels and the tail cowl have been designed with a rather subtle outlook. To add to the commuter comfort factor, the bike features a broad and comfortable seat design which enables stress free riding not only for the rider but for the pillion as well. The suspension set up which features rebound damping with fast and slow compressions is very much suitable for Indian riding conditions and excellent handling, ride comfort and resistance to bottoming even in cases of harsh riding.
The bike will come with a price tag of Rs. 41,000/- (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) and will be available in 3 color options including Black, Red and Black & Red combination. Adding one more Yamaha product to the entire portfolio which is known for its durability and low maintenance, the YBR 110 gets an apt tagline, “Mazbooti aisi ki chalti jaaye.”
