We have been extensively locating Tata’s new hatchback – Bolt ever since it was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. Now, latest news from sources reveal that the launch date of the compact sedan and the hatchback is scheduled in August and September respectively.
Tata Motors witnessed a fall in car sales this year. Its small car, Nano, also failed to show wonders on sales books and the sluggish sales numbers forced the company to temporarily halt the production at Sanand plant in Gujarat.
Hopes of Tata Motors’ revival lies on these two new launches scheduled for launch and to take on competitors like Hyundai’s i20, Suzuki’s Swift, Honda Amaze and alikes in the respective segments.
The new Tata Bolt would be powered a freshly developed turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that can make upto 83bhp @ 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm between 1,750-3,000 rpm. However, the diesel variant will be powered by the tried and tested 1.3-liter Quadrajet diesel motor that can make upto of 73bhp of power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both engines will transmit power to front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Bolt is expected to be priced between Rs 4.5 – Rs 7 lakh whereas the Zest is prices will hover around Rs. 5 – 8 lakh range.

Hadnt I purchased i20 last year i would have gone for petrol bolt. 140Nm turbo petrol seems just perfect and high quality built with the boot is what a common wish for.
