A few weeks back, we witnessed Suzuki’s Inazuma facing a price cut of nearly Rs 1 lakh. That’s nearly 30 percent price cut from its original introduction pricetag. Well, these things ought to happen when demand for a product is absolutely bizarre.
Indian manufacturer Tata Motors is facing one such situation Down Under. Tata Motors introduced its Xenon in Australia in October last year. This product was strategically place by Tata in Australia because of the preference of pickup trucks in the country. However, sluggish sales and rising inventory has forced Tata Motors’ to slash the prices of Xenon in Australia.
The Indian manufacturer faced stiff competition from products like Toyota Hilux (Fortuner’s pickup version), Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton (Pajero Sport’s pickup version) and Isuzu D-Max.
The local distributor has cut up to $2000 off the already-discounted prices of selected 2013-plated Xenon. The prices of the 2013 Tata Xenon now range from 19,990 AUD (Rs 11.32 lakhs) to 23,990 AUD (Rs 13.58 lakhs) as against the launch price which ranged from 22,990 AUD (Rs 13.02 lakhs) to 29,990 AUD (Rs 16.98 lakhs).
2.2-litre DICOR diesel engine that generates 147.4 hp and 320 Nm of torque and comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It’s available in single and dual cab variants with 4×2 and 4×4 options.
Features such as power windows, air conditioning, Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity, AM/FM radio and CD, driver and passenger airbags, ABS brakes, 16 inch alloy wheels and central locking come standard across the range.
