Tata Cars To Get Costlier From September 2026 With Up To Rs 25,000 Hike

A family that has spent months planning a new car purchase may now have one more number to check before making the final payment. Tata Motors has announced a price increase across its passenger vehicle range from September 1, 2026. The hike will be up to Rs 25,000, depending on the model and variant.

The new prices will apply to both petrol and diesel cars as well as Tata’s electric vehicles. The company has not shared the exact increase for each model yet.

Tata Motors Price Hike Details

The company has pointed to higher costs as the main reason for the revision. Inflation and input costs have continued to put pressure on the automotive industry. Tata Motors says it has absorbed a large part of these increases, but some of the extra cost will now be passed on to buyers.

There are also a few other factors behind the move:

  • Foreign exchange changes have added to costs
  • Employee separation costs have increased
  • EV battery prices have risen in recent months
  • Tata Motors has also seen pressure on profit margins
  • The maximum increase will be Rs 25,000

Exact Model Wise Hike Yet To Be Announced

Rs 25,000 is the maximum increase and does not mean every Tata car will become costlier by the same amount. The actual revision will depend on the model and variant.

Tata has not released the revised price list yet. Buyers will therefore have to wait for the final figures before knowing the exact difference.

Tata Is Not The Only Car Maker Raising Prices

Tata Motors is not alone in revising prices. Hyundai has also announced a September price increase of up to 1 percent. Maruti Suzuki had already increased prices in August.

The timing is important for buyers because September also marks the start of the festive buying period. Anyone planning to purchase a Tata car should check the final invoice price carefully before booking.
