Spy images: This is how the base variant of the Renault Kwid will look like

New spy images sent in by a reader show how the base variant of the Renault Kwid will look like. Identifiable cues include unpainted bumpers, exposed steel wheels and the lack of side body cladding. This variant is expected to retail for a shade above INR 3 lakh, when launched later this year.

An India-specific model for now, the Renault Kwid is based on Renault-Nissan Alliance’s modular CMF-A platform, and will be manufactured in India. The Kwid is 3.68 meters long; 1.58 meters wide and boasts of a relatively high, 180mm of ground clearance.

Power comes from a 800cc, three-cylinder DOHC engine reportedly outputting 57 bhp, making the Kwid the most powerful car in its class. Fuel efficiency, promises Renault, will also be class leading.

Thanks to a high localization content of 98%, the Kwid will launch with an aggressive pricing structure (INR3-4 lakh). It’ll also bear quite a couple of segment first features on the inside, which include a  touchscreen Media-Nav multimedia/navigation system with a seven-inch display and a fully digital instrument console.

  3. No Complains on design..(when msuzuki could sell ritz, n wagonor in top numbers).. What remains a fear is compromise on the build quality, inclusion of any safety related equipment’s, features as optional or only for top end..
