Two variants of the new generation Bajaj Avenger motorcycles were spotted on different occasions early this month. Both the spy images did not reveal much about the power plants that would propel these new generation cruiser motorcycles from Bajaj. This time, however, we have received the clearest spy images of the new generation Bajaj Avenger, courtesy an unknown source through WhatsApp, which appear to have been snapped at Bajaj’s Chakan plant.
Contrary to earlier reports, these new set of spy images confirm that both the variants of the upcoming Avenger series of motorcycles would carry forward the same 220cc air and oil-cooled engine that powers the current generation of the cruiser. Thus, the updated model is likely to be just a cosmetic upgrade for Bajaj’s much successful cruiser. For 2015, the Avenger 220 Cruise will drop plain the mono-tone paint job for new set of graphics, a chrome badge on the fuel tank and the 220 Cruise tag on the side panels. Rest of the hardware stays near-identical to the outgoing generation of the Avenger.
The Street version of the Avenger sheds away the chrome bits, pillion back rest and the tall windshield and gets an matte-black paint job replacing the regulation glossy paint finish. The 220 Street gets stickered on with an Bajaj badge and receives red graphic scheme on the tank.
These new spy images indicate that Bajaj may retain its 220cc mill for both – the 220 Cruise and the 220 Steer variants. If that’s what Bajaj has lined up for the near future, we really hope they have tweaked the motor to deliver slightly better performance numbers than the current model’s 19.03 PS of power and 17.5Nm of torque.
