Race Report: 2010 Volkswagen Polo Cup – Round 4

Race 1 saw Championship Leader Sailesh Bolisetti take off to a flying start only to fall short behind Vishnu Prasad who maintained the lead for most of the race. However, as a drizzle flew in, the conditions changed. While Vishnu Prasad tried his best to maintain his line in the compromised traction, his car was plagued by a mechanical failure when he least expected it, leaving him stranded alongside the track. But with his consistent laps throughout and composed drive, Shailesh Bollisetti converted his advantage into a win. However, it wasn’t easy, as the lack of traction saw Vikash Anand and Parth Ghorpade close in and give him tough competition. The latter duo took the second and the third spot on the podium.Vishnu Prasad and Shrivatsa Sinha were the only non-finishers in this race. However, Shrivatsa Sinha needs a special mention. Being a total newcomer not only to Chennai, but also to the Polo Cup, Shrivatsa put in some impressive lap times (in the region of 2min07s) as the race progressed.
