New Verna: features, variants, specs and everything else you want to know

The new Hyundai Verna has created a lot of excitement among the prospective buyers and enthusiasts alike. We personally know many people who have postponed their buying decisions waiting for this new car from Hyundai. However, not many details are available on the internet about the various trim levels, features and fuel efficiency figures for various versions. Not anymore! On making an enquiry about the Verna at one of the Hyundai dealerships, we were promptly given a paper which had most of the details about this upcoming City, Vento and SX4 challenger.

To start with, the new car is being called the New Verna at Hyundai internally. The car will be available with four engines (two petrols and two diesel) and four trim levels. While the smaller 1.4-liter petrol and diesel engines will be available only with the standard 1.4 badge, which means that high-end features won’t be available as an option for the small engine variants. However, the 1.6-liter engines, for both petrol and diesel will get four variants. This will include a standard 1.6, a middle of the road 1.6 SX, a top of the line 1.6 SX (O) and finally the automatic transmission version with 1.6 SX (O) AT badge. The AT version will be available only as a top of the line variant, with all the features.

The new Verna is looking like a terrific car, with great design, many class-first features, and most of it all some of the best engines in the business. Hyundai have also upped the ante by offering as many as 6 airbags in the top of the line SX(O) and SX(O)AT variants. If priced properly, the New Verna has the makings to set the segment on fire and send the VWs and Hondas of the world scurrying for cover.
