New Maruti Alto K10 launched; priced at Rs. 3.06 lakh – Rs. 3.81 lakh

The much awaited Maruti Alto K10 has been launched in India today with prices ranging from Rs. 3.06 lakh – Rs. 3.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), Rs. 30,000 cheaper than the outgoing model. Also, at Rs. 3.80 lakh, the Maruti Alto K10 AMT becomes the cheapest automatic car in India. Maruti’s new baby will be available in a total of six variants – LX, LXi, VXi, VXi ()), VXi (AMT) and LXi (CNG).

Variant-wise pricing (ex-showroom, Delhi)

LX – Rs. 3.06 lakh

LXi – Rs. 3.21 lakh

VXi – Rs. 3.37 lakh

VXi (O) – Rs. 3.56 lakh

VXi (AMT) – Rs. 3.80 lakh

LXi (CNG) – Rs. 3.81 lakh

Stylistic updates over the Alto800 on which it is based come in the form of a revised front fascia with a new, large bumper bearing fog lamps (only available on the range-topping Vxi(O) trim), bigger headlamps and an all-new grille running a thick chrome lip. The rear gets an all-new bumper, new tail-gate and slightly bigger tail lamps which are slightly pinched. Bigger wheels and tires improve the stance, while the sides benefit from a blacked out B-pillar and moldings.

On the inside, it gets a new dual-tone dashboard, new upholstery, silver garnished door trims, AC louvers,  gear shift bezel and a newly designed 3-spoke steering wheel. The taller (+15mm @ 1475mm) wider (+15mm @ 1490mm) next generation Alto K10 offers better head room, and leg room. To enhance legroom for rear seat occupants, the back of front seats is scooped out. One more significant addition being the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox from the Celerio.

The next generation Manual Transmission on the new Alto K10 offers improved gearshift performance by use of detent pin technology (DPT) and diagonal shift assist (DSA). Gear ratios have been optimized for better drive and fuel efficiency. The Auto Gear Shift transmission facilitates comfortable driving in stop-go traffic conditions in cities.

The new Maruti Alto K10 draws power from the 1.0-liter three-cylinder K-Series engine which produces 67.04 bhp and 90 Nm of torque when run on petrol, while the CNG variant produces 59 PS (58.16 bhp) and 78 Nm of torque. The petrol variant gets a 5-speed manual or the 5-speed AMT.

Colours: The new Alto K10 comes with dual interior colour scheme. ‘Tango Orange’ is the signature colour that has a Metallic finish to perfectly complement the refreshing exteriors. The 6 body colours on the new Alto K10 are:

• Fire Brick Red
• Silky Silver
• Superior White

Features

As expected, the entry-level LX trim is pretty bare and the only features offered are:-

• Manual AC with heating function
• Front and rear integrated headrests
• Fabric upholstery.

Additionally, the LXi trim gets:-

• Power steering
• Tailgate release button
• Child-lock for the rear doors
• Internally-adjustable right wing mirror.

Over and above this, the VXi/Vxi (AMT) trim adds:-

• Factory-fitted double-DIN audio system with two speakers and USB and Aux-in connectivity
• Central locking
• Front power windows
• Buzzer warning for the headlamps
• Tachometer
• Digital clock
• Rear parcel tray
• Wheel caps.

The range-topping VXi(O)/(Vxi AMT) trim adds:-

• Driver airbag
• Front fog lamps
• Key-less entry.

Mileage

The new Alto K10 is claimed to be 15% more fuel efficient at 24.07Km/l. The Alto K10 will also have a CNG variant that returns an impressive 32.26Km/kg.
