The 2014 Mercedes S Class is just hours from getting unveiled. The next gen S Class will make its public debut around 23:45 IST today and safely expect us to work overtime and post about the car’s unveiling. The car will be unveiled in Airbus A380 Delivery Center in Hamburg, Germany and regulars here would remember that we posted images of the venue yesterday.
While we all already know how the car looks like, Mercedes has been publishing one teaser after another to keep the buzz around the upcoming unveiling ceremony. The latest teaser gives us a glimpse of the 2014 Mercedes S-Class (W222), which is parked inside a DHL airplane.
Talking about the launch event, Joachim Schmidt, Member of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales & Marketing said,“The new S-Class is the epitome of a modern luxury sedan and Hamburg is the perfect place to showcase it to the world. The port of Hamburg is a symbol of Germany’s export strength and success of German products around the world. In addition, it has developed into the most important European hub for trade with China – the main market for the new S-class.”
Powering the 2014 S Class are a set of motors that have been borrowed from the last gen model. These engines have been re-tuned to offer higher performance and fuel economy and lower tail pipe emissions. The engines are expected to come mated to a new 9 speed automatic gearbox that benefits from terrain sensing technology.
