Honda has revealed the US spec Fit at the NAIAS. The car which made its international debut a few months back will start selling in a month’s time in the US. The U.S.spec model will be produced at Honda’s manufacturing plant in Mexico with a capacity of 200,000 units per year. Powering the new Fit is a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine with 130 bhp and 154 Nm on tap. Transmission is taken care of by a 6-speed manual or CVT with paddle shifters. For now, the 1.5 liter petrol is the only engine on offer for the US specific car. More options may be offered at a later stage.
The interior of the US spec car has been carried over from the European model, obviouslywith the change in the side of the steering wheel. The feature list will include a rear view camera with multiple angles, a moonroof, heated front seats and a touch screen infotainment unit. Leather seats will make a debut on the hatchback for the first time.
The new Fit is the most spacious and comfortable model in the nameplate’s history. It will be manufactured alongside the small SUV Vezel at the Mexico plant, and is expected to sell in much better numbers than its predecessors.
