Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch two new models in India soon. Mercedes-Benz India has announced that the launch of the C-Class Cabriolet and the S-Class Cabriolet will take place on November 9, 2016. The brand currently sells only the E-Class Cabriolet in India.
Both the upcoming models will share most of their design and features from their respective coupe siblings. The C-Class cabriolet, on the other hand, will be powered by a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque. This motor sends power to the wheels via nine speed automatic transmission. Speeds of 0-100 kmph can be attained in 6.7 seconds all the way to an electronically limited speed of 350 kmph. Once launched, the model will rival the Audi A3 Cabriolet and could come with a price tag in excess of Rs. 60 lakh.
India is likely to receive the S-Class Cabriolet with a 4.7-litre V8 biturbo petrol engine that is tuned to produce a power output of 455 hp while the peak torque is rated at 700 Nm. This motor will come mated to a nine speed automatic transmission. The aforementioned drivetrain will enable the model to sprint from 0-100 kmph in 4.6 seconds all the way up to an electronically limited speed of 250 kmph. Expect the model to arrive with a price tag of more than Rs. 1.5 crore.
