It seems that the Maruti Ciaz is quite a runaway success for the company. Maruti Suzuki, it seems, is preoccupied clearing the backlog for the Ciaz, but at the same time, on the verge of launching an all-new variant of the sedan. This variant is to be a more “sportier” version of the standard car, but don’t buy it expecting it to outperform the standard car. According to sources, the “sportier” Ciaz won’t feature a more potent powerplant under the bonnet, but will only come with some cosmetic upgrades. This means that it will look like it’s going faster, but won’t be.
For those of you who are aware of the ‘Aero-kits’ offered on most Maruti cars these days, the treatment on the Ciaz will be almost similar, if not identical. So the new Maruti Ciaz will receive a chin spoiler at the front, a diffuser arrangement at the rear and side-skirts and a spoiler too.
The standard car is quite well proportioned.
As seen in the above picture, the standard Ciaz comes with 16-inch alloys on the top-spec ‘Z’ variants. Although the alloy design isn’t too suave, it suits the overall proportions of the sedan. But the “Sports” version, as seen in the spy images, is to be equipped with alloys with a dull gray / matte finish to them. This is sure to boost the overall image of the car and make it appear more sportier. Although there are images of the interior of the car, we expect Maruti to also integrate a more premium infotainment system with built-in navigation system with a touchscreen display. Aux-in, Bluetooth and CD/MP3 support will also be included with this upgraded head-unit. Other likely features may include more premium seat covers, illuminated door-sills and a couple of pillows if you feel sleepy at the back. Other than these, the Ciaz will remain the same under the skin. A sporty and well-packaged deal, but you won’t be winning any races at the lights with a standard variant.
