Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the largest selling car maker in India, announced that the Maruti Alto K10 Facebook page has garnered more than one million fans. With this, the Alto K10 becomes of the select few car brands on social media with such huge fan base.
The target customer for Alto K10 is the youth and today the younger customers spend a lot of time online, as they look for information and suggestions online before purchasing a car. Understanding the importance of social media, Maruti Suzuki has been actively using this medium to engage with its customers.
The company has taken up several initiatives across digital platforms to engage with its customer base. A few of these initiatives include:
- Let’s go weekend Trips – A Facebook engagement that encourages users to take short weekend road-trips
- Contests on Twitter around the theme of music to popularize the Alto K10 musiK edition
- Alto K10 Driving Top 10 – A Facebook engagement application that allows Alto K10 fans to vote for their favourite driving songs and create weekly playlists of their top songs for a zippy drive
On the occasion, Mr. Manohar Bhat, Vice President (Marketing), Maruti Suzuki India, said “Alto K10 is a zippy entry level car and our target customer is youth. It is important for us to connect with this segment of buyers and social media is the right platform. It helps us directly interact and establish connect with our customers.”

The Alto K10 was launched in August 2010 and is one of the top-selling cars in India. The car is powered by the 1000cc K-Series engine offering 68PS of max power and claimed fuel mileage of 20.92 kmpl.
