Mahindra & Mahindra have announced the global roll-out of their Genio range of pick-ups. The Genio is powered by a 2.2 litre mHawk diesel with 120 BHP @ 4000 RPM. This is complemented by a torque of 290 Nm @ 1600-2800 RPM. The engine is Euro 3 and 4 compliant.
Unlike what you would expect the pick-up comes with the Cruise Control feature with steering mounted controls. The seats come with lumbar support and are height adjustable. Stering wheels is tilt adjustable too. In addition, the international Genio also has foldable flight trays as a segment first to let the occupants have a meal while on the go. The Genio DC is also the widest pickup in its category and coupled with the maximum height, ensures it is the most spacious cabin in its category.
The Genio comes equipped with DDAS (Digital Drive Assist System) which displays vital stats like current mileage and fuel level. The DDAS also offers information like date, time, inside and outside temperature and relative humidity.
The 2 DIN audio system can read data from CDs, USB sticks as well as SD cards. Apart from the Cruise Control, the audio controls are also mounted on the Genio’s steering wheel.
The SC pickup has a category leading payload of 1.25 tons. The vehicle comes with a one touch release button for the cargo tub and low loading height. The double cab has one of the largest tubs in its category, which aptly complements the spacious cabin, making the Genio a luxurious pickup, inside & out. The Genio is also available with $WD as an option.
The Genio comes with ABS. The vehicle also offers an Airbag option for both the driver and co-driver The Genio is designed with crumple zones to and also boasts of an immobiliser to prevent vehicle theft.

So many features on a commercial-use pick-up truck for the international market, while some of the premium passenger cars dont have such features. Guess it’ll take some more time before our car market eveolves enough to reach the international standards.
