The fourth edition of Women Car Rally will be held on 24th and 25th September 2011. Here’s the programme:
September 23rd 2011: 3:30pm: Press Conference at Hard Rock Cafe, DLF Place Saket followed by Ceremonial Flag off from DLF Place Saket.
September 24th 2011: 0500 hours: Flag off from DLF Place Saket and will reach Jaipur around 6 pm.
September 25th 2011: 0800 hours: Flag off from Hotel Clarks Amer for about 3 hours and Prize Distribution Ceremony at Hotel Clarks Amer.
Women car rally is based on TSD (Time Speed Distance) format. In addition to the route instructions (road book), participants are also assigned particular speeds to be maintained during different legs or sections. These speeds are always legal and often are below the posted speed limit. Objective of Time-Speed-Distance rally, is twofold: to stay on the prescribed course and to drive at exactly the given speed.
A team, consisting of a woman driver and a navigator attempts to travel the specified route at exactly the specified speed. The perfect team would be on course, on time at any given point along the route. To score teams against this goal, time-checks are sprinkled throughout the course at unspecified locations. Each team is timed by rally marshals at the time-checks and their time is compared against a perfect time. Travelling too fast results in penalties as does travelling too slowly!
No special vehicle preparation is required and your daily use car can participate in the event.
