Is this the new Ford Figo face-lift?

New Ford Ka Render

No it isn’t – it’s a speculative render by Italian publication Omni Auto, about how the new Ford Ka for Europe could look like. Incidentally, the city car going to be based on the same Figo we already drive (or the new Ka that South Americans already drive), so the render isn’t far off. The rendering swaps the Figo’s grille with a job that’s inspired from the new Fusion’s, while the standard headlamp clusters now host LED illumination. This template could also work for a face-lifted Figo, which is still some time away.

Compared to the Ka sold in South America, the Ka for Europe is expected to receive significant changes. Apart from some premium styling and interior updates, the Euro-spec Ka will also gain more safety equipment. The current generation of the Ka sold in Europe is based on the Fiat 500, and is built at Fiat’s plant in Tychy, Poland. Production is slated to end in April, and post that, there’s a slim possibility that Ford India’s factory in Chennai could make and export the European version of the new Ka.

Although drive-train options for Europe’s new Ka is best left to imagination, it’ll presumably share its mechanical bits with its South American cousin. The 1.0-liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine from the South American Ka seems the best bet. A 1.5-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine is also available in South America, while the Figo sold in India is powered by either a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol or a 1.5-liter diesel engine.
