Korean car maker Hyundai also plans to enter the compact SUV and MPV segment in India by next year. Speaking to PTI, Rakesh Srivastava, Vice President Sales and Marketing of Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) said, “From this year we have started entering segment where we are not present. We will continue to do this in the coming years to enter segments where we are not present currently. The compact SUV and MPV segments are growing in India and these are of interest to us.”

The compact SUV will compete against the Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Tata’s upcoming Nexon and Mahindra’s compact SUV codenamed S101. Tata and Mahindra are too expected to launch their respective compact SUV’s next year. Hyundai will have to pull out something really unique at an affordable price tag if it wants to capture a considerable share of the compact SUV market.

  1. Looks are promising ix25 but can the prices be within reach 7-10lac bracket to spice up the segment and give a run for Ecosport and Duster, wish Honda Vezel launches in india but honda cant bring down the prices so making room for the others to explore and gain success. many Indians waiting for Suv’s within reach any thing beyond 10 lac might put off the buyers[majority] waiting to lay hands on ix25…..
