Korean automobile manufacturer, Hyundai, unveiled its ix25 compact SUV at the Beijing Auto Show in China in April this year. Sale of this SUV will begin in China on October 9, according to a confirmation given to a Chinese auto website by Beijing-Hyundai. This latest Hyundai SUV, in words of Hyundaim, has been “strategically developed for China”.
In earlier images reported by Motoroids, it was claimed by the photographers who snapped the images of the new Hyundai ix25 prototype that they have spotted a window sticker which reveals that the SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that is mated to an automatic transmission. The test mule also boasted of all-wheel drive system. It is also expected that the upcoming Hyundai Compact SUV is likely to get an 1.0 liter, direct injection, turbocharged petrol engine which will place it against Ford’s EcoBoost.
In terms of size, the new ix25 measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, 1,630 mm in height and 2,590 mm in wheelbase. Production of the ix25 for China will be handled by the Beijing Hyundai joint venture.
A report from Financial Express stated Hyundai Motor India’s senior vice-president of marketing & sales, Rakesh Srivastava hinting towards introduction of a new car above the i20. He, however, did not mention the name of the product.
We saw the hints of the ix25 at the Beijing Auto Expo and we are eagerly waiting for Hyundai to introduce this in the Indian car market.
