Honda Hybrid/Electric Scooters in India?

HMSI has been in the headlines since quite some time now after the mysterious renaming of its bikes and the surprising launch of the Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler. It seems HMSI has intentions to refresh its fleet of offerings in India. Thus, as a part of its plan, the firm may bring to the Indian market, its Hybrid and Electric scooters. This may happen in somewhere in the coming 5-10 years.

Scarcity of fuel and other environmental problems doesn’t seem to be the primary reason why the firm intends to bring these vehicles to India. Nor does the firm seem to be worried about the rising competition in the Indian two-wheeler market. The firm claims that they wish to provide their Indian customers with high quality and more reliable products. And this move of introducing their Hybrid and Electric Scooters would be an example of the same.

“From our point of view, contributing to the Indian society is our top priority. We are growing our business and investing more but need to contribute more to the cause of safety and the environment. There is no perfect solution so far despite the Bharat Stage 3 emission norms. We, at HMSI, have to do something,” said Mr. Shinji Aoyoma, President and CEO, HMSI.
