Honda CB350 Based ADV in the Works

Honda recently filed a design patent abroad, offering a sneak peek into an upcoming Honda ADV based on the CB350 platform

CB350 Lineup’s Engine and Main Frame

As the patent images suggest, the adventure bike borrows its engine and main frame largely from the reliable CB350 lineup.

This decision aligns with Honda’s emphasis on retaining the successful elements of its neo-retro bikes. Notably, the 350cc Honda ADV is poised to embrace a simple, no-frills design, reminiscent of the classic CB350 models.

Twin Shock Absorbers

Surprisingly, the Honda ADV stands out by opting for twin shock absorbers at the rear, deviating from the prevalent use of monoshocks in modern adventure bikes.

This departure sparks curiosity and sets the upcoming model on a distinct path, challenging the conventional norms observed in the industry.

Wire-Spoked Rims

Distinguishing itself further, the Honda adventure bike features wire-spoked rims, indicating a preference for tubed tires. Unlike most adventure bikes sporting either 19-inch or 21-inch front wheels, the Honda ADV appears poised to tread down its unique route.

Drawing Parallels with the Himalayan 411

From the scooped out rider’s seat to the upswept exhaust, round headlight, and multiple luggage mounting points, the adventure bike’s sketch remarkably mirrors the erstwhile Royal Enfield Himalayan 411.

Expect the air-cooled, 349cc, single-cylinder engine to deliver performance figures akin to the CB350 range, placing it in proximity to models like the Hero Xpulse 200 4V.

The Road Ahead

While these patent designs offer a tantalizing glimpse into Honda’s future venture, it’s crucial to acknowledge that this model is still in its nascent stages. The launch is a few years away, allowing room for refinement and development.

In the Indian market, should it make its debut, the Honda ADV is poised to compete with the enduring Royal Enfield Scram 411, an icon that has retained its core elements since the original Himalayan 411’s debut in 2016.
