For the first time after it’s spilt from Hero Hondas, some news seems to be coming about the new brand name that the bikes from India’s No.1 bike maker may adorn. It seems hero Motors have zeroed in on to Hero Moto as the preferred new name for their two-wheeler manufacturing business. The company has apparently submitted an application for name change to ROC, and is under consideration for availability. It’s notable that even if the name gets approved from ROC, the company may have to wait for the final nod from the shareholders before the name change is formally implemented.
Hero Honda is planning to spend as much as Rs 200 crore for the re-branding exercise, which would be crucial to make sure that the customers across the world are duly informed that Hero Moto is the erstwhile Hero Honda. The rebranding exercise will also be crucial to the exports of the company. The company’s model brands such as Passion, Splendor, Karizma etc will retain their names, and after the name change, will be known as Hero Moto Splendor, Hero Moto Karizma, and so on.
In our opinion, Hero Moto is a nice choice for a name. It reflects the company’s business very clearly and adds a bit of cool quotient to it as well with the inclusion of the world ‘moto’. What do you think? Would you have been happy with the name change if Hero Honda were your company?
