Back in the month of February, Harley Davidson India announced a price cut on Completely Built Up (CBU) bikes after the government announced a reduction in the custom duty on fully imported bikes. At the same time, the government had also announced a hike in the duty on certain CKD units.
Following the announcement of the government to increase customs duty for the components of these Completely Knocked Down (CKD) models such as the gearbox and engines from 10% to 15%, Harley Davidson has increased the prices of these models with effect from April 1, 2018.
With a majority of Harley Davidson’s product portfolio in India being CKD units, prices of numerous models from the brand have witnessed a hike ranging from INR 8,000 to INR 70,000, depending upon the model. The CKD range of Harley Davidson products in India now starts with a price tag of INR 5.25 lakh for the Street 750, all the way up to INR 19.71 lakh for the Heritage Classic.
