A blessing from both sides of the family is what an ideal bride and groom would expect at a wedding. In an unexpected turn of events at one particular wedding, the father in law of the groom gifted his family an array of vehicles which include Audi Q5, a Toyota Fortuner, 12 Royal Enfields and a Honda Activa scooter.
Gulab Walhekar is the man who gifted these set of wheels to his son-in-law at the wedding that was held in Pimpri, Pune. One question that pops up in our minds would be how this well- off father-in-law got the possession of not one or two but 12 Royal Enfields at the same time. Considering that the average waiting time for one RE is 6 months, we feel Walhekar must have put in a considerate amount over the asking price just to buy all these motorcycles together for the wedding. This, despite the fact that the production of Royal Enfield had taken a hit due to the recent floods in the state of Chennai, raises our doubts and maybe even the (hidden) cost of the said bullets for Walhekar.
If some reports are to be believed, the Honda Activa was gifted to one of the grooms’ aunt for the sake of performing a ritual during the course of the wedding ceremony. In an era where people are fighting the odds with cases of dowry and the likes, this case seems to be just the opposite. Although reports suggest that the vehicles were presented in the form of gifts, one couldn’t deny the fact that it could be one of the many cases of dowry that are passed on in the name of presents.
