GM India’s April 2010 sales soar by 120%

The Chevrolet brand seems to have brought success to General Motors India which is evident by its soaring sales for the month of April, 2010. The firm’s sales increased by a massive 120% this year with the sales of 10,601 units as compared to last year’s 4,923 units.

Out of the total sales, the firm managed to sell 62 units of the Chevrolet Optra, 115 units of Chevrolet Captiva, 315 units of Chevrolet Aveo, 529 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, 692 units of Chevrolet Cruze, 1529 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 3507 units of Chevrolet Spark and a massive 3852 units of the newly launched Chevrolet Beat. The firm will attempt to reduce the waiting period for the Beat, Cruze and Spark by introducing second shifts at both of its plants.

The sudden rise in sales has been observed to be the result of the launch of the Chevrolet Beat, Spark and Cruze which has brought enormous success to the firm. The firm also recently rolled out the 100,000th unit of the Chevrolet Spark which indicates the success of the car.

“Introduction of best-in-segment cars from the 300 series, increase in customer outreach through distribution network, our unique value proposition like Chevrolet Cashless Ownership offer and our promise to deliver quality and performance are the factors that have led to the impressive sales. This consistent sales growth demonstrates customer’s belief and confidence in the Chevrolet brand.  We are pleased to see such robust growth for all our car lines and we believe these world class products will further propel the Chevrolet brand in the market,” said Mr. P Balendran, Vice-President, GM India.
