General Motors celebrates World Environment Day

This World Environment Day, General Motors organized various activities related to environment safety and conservation with a pledge to spread awareness around environment protection, sustenance and eco-conscious growth. The company has collaborated with Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) to organize PUC drives across its dealerships throughout India. There were also other initiatives like environment conservation tips to customers, sapling distribution, tree plantations, green processions, awareness rallies, etc.

The objective of these drives were to create awareness among motorists to take little steps to reduce their carbon footprint and give proper knowledge to customers for maintenance of their vehicles which will benefit them as well as the environment.

With the intent to make a measurable impact, serving foundation of a cleaner, healthier and sustainable planet, GM India Talegaon has been celebrating Environment Day from 31st May and will continue till 15th June 2016. The site will be rolling out a series of activities, encouraging employees to join hands for the green initiative including cleanliness drive at Ghoravdeshwar Mountain, NH-4 Highway, Pune and tree plantation at the premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Swati Bhattacharya, Vice President, Corporate Communications, General Motors India, said, “General Motors has always been committed to its care for the environment and it is our endeavour to enhance public awareness towards key environmental issues. We firmly believe that the community education is a key contributor in this direction and all members come together to spread awareness about cleaner environment among vehicle owners and society as a whole. These activities reiterate GM’s continuing commitment towards a clean and green environment initiative.
