Way back in September 2013, rumors had started that Ford will be launching the 2015 Mustang in India. Now, according to a report by Autocar, an insider at Ford has said that the Ford Mustang India launch will happen this year. In total, Ford India will be launching 4 cars this year which include the Figo hathcback and compact sedan, new Endeavour and the iconic Mustang. This is the first time the Mustang has been developed for RHD markets and hence an India launch was impending.
Although Ford does not expect big numbers from the Mustang, it will be launching it as Halo product in its portfolio. The 2015 Mustang is available with the following engine options :
- 5.0-liter V8 with 420 bhp and 530 Nm of torque. A new intake manifold improves low-speed breathing for better fuel economy, idle stability and emissions.
- 3.7-liter V6 produces 300bhp of power and 366 Nm of peak torque. This one is the bottom of the line engine.
- All-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost produces 305 bhp and 406 Nm of peak torque along while also delivering great fuel efficiency, thanks to the new technology engine.
If these figures dont satisfy you, there is also a Shelby GT500 variant that is powered by a 5.8-litre supercharged V8. It remains to be seen which variant will be offered on sale here.
The new Ford Mustang arrives in dealerships across Europe this year. It’s the first time in the iconic sports car’s 50-year history that it will be sold across Europe. More than 9,300 Europeans registered for a chance to buy one of 500 new Ford Mustangs, available to order for the first time in Europe during the UEFA Champions League Final, all of which were reserved in just 30 seconds.

This will be phenomenal, but the enthusiast folks will be excited beyond scales.. But the deciding factors are price.. The Ex showroom prices of US work out to be something in the range of 30-40 laks, and if the cars are imported to India in full built, the games over. But if brought in CKD or if manufactured entirely in India things will surely be interesting…. I believe..
Lets see what Ford has in mind though..
But its a good thing, many like me have been lusting about these for too long, and envying friends who are driving these cars in the US..
