The Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione has been showcased in India at the ongoing Autocar Performance Show, and is all set for a launch in January 2015. The cheeky little fire breathing monster will be imported into India as a completely built unit and will be priced somewhere around 27 -32 lakh. Offered in both Competizione and slightly cheaper and less performance-focused Turismo grades, the Abarth 595 is essentially an Abarth 500 with the Esseesse engine upgrade pack, as well as some exterior/ interior equipment upgrades and chassis tweaks.

Under the hood of the 595 Competizone is a 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine with an IHI RHF3-P turbocharger, producing 158bhp, and a peak torque of 210 Nm in Normal mode, which can be boosted to 230 Nm in Sport mode. The motor is mated to a 5-speed AMT. Its diminutive proportions and low weight (1035 Kgs), coupled with the fiery little motor gives it an astounding power-to-weight ratio! The Abarth 595 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 205/40-spec, sticky Pirelli PZero tires. In India, the Abarth 595 will compete with the three-door Mini Cooper S, which was launched by BMW in India last month.
