Dacia Spring EV 2024 Launched

Dacia has unveiled the 2024 Spring EV, based on the Renault Kwid EV, and it’s creating quite a stir in the electric vehicle (EV) market.

With a significant price cut, enhanced features, and advanced safety technology, the second-gen Spring EV is making waves as an affordable and innovative option for electric mobility enthusiasts.

A Stylish Upgrade

The 2024 Spring EV has undergone a remarkable design overhaul, drawing inspiration from the all-new Dacia Duster. The front fascia boasts slim LED daytime running lamps integrated into a gloss black grille, giving it a sleek and modern look.

The wider air dam enhances its robust appearance, while the rear sports new Y-shaped LED tail-lights reminiscent of the Duster, creating an overall aesthetic appeal.

Inside the Spring EV

Stepping inside, the Spring EV offers a refreshed interior, clearly influenced by the Duster’s design philosophy. The dashboard is modern, yet gives a rugged charm.

A new steering wheel with integrated controls, an infotainment screen, and revised HVAC controls contribute to a user-friendly cabin. Unique accessory mounts, physical controls, and an open shelf on the passenger side add practicality to the interior.

Safety Features

Dacia has not compromised on safety. The Spring EV boasts advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including lane-keeping assistance, advanced emergency braking, and a driver attention monitoring system.

Complying with Europe’s new GSR2 safety regulations, a ‘My Safety’ button provides quick access to ADAS settings, ensuring a secure driving experience.

Standard features include dual airbags and ABS, with top-spec variants offering a 10.1-inch wireless-updatable infotainment screen.

Power and Efficiency

The Spring EV retains its efficient powertrain. With a single electric motor delivering either 45hp or 65hp to the front wheels, the Spring offers a leisurely 0-100kph acceleration in 13.7 seconds for the more powerful variant.

The 26.8kWh battery provides a claimed range of over 220km, contributing to the Spring’s lightweight of 984kg.

The India Connection

While Renault India’s MD, Venkatram Mamillapalle, hinted at an entry-level EV for India, the timeline for the Dacia Spring EV’s launch remains uncertain. If it arrives as the Renault Kwid EV, it could potentially challenge competitors like the MG Comet and the Tata Tiago EV.
