CNG powered Bajaj RE60 Quadricycle caught testing near Mumbai

While major car manufacturers have been busy showcasing their tech laden cars at Geneva which boast of leaving behind a ridiculously low carbon footprint, closer home, Bajaj has been busy testing their RE60 quadricycle. The 4-wheeled vehicle has the potential to bring back the blooming season during fall, as it only emanates 60 gms of carbon for every kilometer it covers. That could further go down, as a CNG variant has now been spotted testing on the outskirts of Mumbai by Motoroids followers Siddhant Kadam and Yash Sunil. Testing without any gaudy camouflage, the RE60 was snapped doing speeds of about 60-70 kph, which also happens to be its top whack.

Designed to be a 4-wheeled mini taxi, the Bajaj RE60 tips the scales at 400 kg and is built using a robust, monocoque metal-polymer hybrid structure. It is powered by a water cooled, DTSi, 4 valve engine that is fueled by a closed loop injection system. Apart from the low carbon footprint, the RE60 also promises to return 35 kpl to a liter of fuel and can hit a maximum speed of 70 kms per hour. With a turning radius of just 3.5m, space for luggage and proper suspension, this is just the right mode of transportation to replace the three-wheeled Robins that rule most urban roads in India.
