Hyundai Motors India Limited

Hyundai Domestic sales up 15.5%

– Cumulative sales register 7.3% growth

June 1, 2010: Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter continued to be on a growth trajectory with the domestic sales growing by 15.5% over the same month last year.

HMIL’s total sales for May, 2010 stood at 46,808 units as against 43,624 units in May, 2009 registering 7.3% cumulative growth. The domestic sales accounted for 27,151 units as against 23,503 units in May, 2009 while the exports declined by 2.3% from 20,121 units in May, 2009 to 19,657 units in May, 2010.

Commenting on HMIL’s sales performance Arvind Saxena, Director – Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “Although the market continues to grow we were constrained by our planned annual maintenance shutdown this month which restricted our numbers as we had to divert our export production to meet the demand for the domestic market. The demand for the i20 continues to swell as demand has shot up by almost 35% following the launch of the new model and addition of two trims”.

The segment-wise cumulative sales for the month of May, 2010 are as follows: A2 segment (Santro, i10, Getz & i20) 42,460 units; A3 Segment (Accent & Verna) 4,310 units; A4 Segment (Elantra) 1 unit; A5 segment (Sonata Transform) 37 units; and SUV segment (Tucson) 0 unit.

Mahindra & Mahindra

Mahindra’s auto sales register 37% YTD growth in May 2010

Exports grew by 186%

Mumbai, June 1, 2010: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), a part of the US $7.1 billion Mahindra Group, today announced that its auto sales for YTD May 2010 stands at 54531 units, as against 39870 units for the same period last year, an increase of 37%.

The company’s YTD domestic sales stand at 52075 units, as against 39198 units in May 2009, an increase of 33%. Exports have grown by 186%.

The total YTD UV sales which include the Scorpio, Xylo, Bolero and Pick-Ups, stand at 36938 units, as against 31067 units in May 2009, a growth of 19%.

Mahindra’s total sales stand at 28486 units in May 2010, as against 16866 units in May 2009, a growth of 69%.

 

General Motors India

General Motors India’s May’10 Sales grow by 61% at 8,225 units

Chevy Beat, Spark and Cruze continue to evoke overwhelming response

New Delhi: General Motors India has registered an impressive growth of 61% in sales in May 2010, compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 8,225 units in May 2010 against 5,109 units in May last year.

The May 2010 sales comprise of 2,812 units of the Chevrolet Spark, 2,296 units of Chevrolet Beat, 1,418 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 854 units of the Cruze, 396 Units of Chevrolet Aveo, 312 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, 84 units of the Chevrolet Captiva and 53 units of Chevrolet Optra.

The increase in the sales was primarily driven by the tremendous response to the extremely popular and much sought after Chevrolet Beat, Cruze and Spark. The Chevrolet Beat and Cruze have become the industry benchmarks in their respective segments and a winner among consumers in India, with its best-in-class design, performance and other product attributes. Chevrolet Spark continues to register impressive sales, clearly validating it as the most sought after mini car in its segment in terms of styling, performance, fuel efficiency, value for money proposition and other product attributes.

Commenting on the performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India said, “We are excited by the continued overwhelming response to Chevrolet Beat, Cruze and Spark. Introduction of best-in-segment cars from the 300 series, increase in customer outreach through distribution network, our unique value proposition like Chevrolet Cashless Ownership offer and our promise to deliver quality and performance are the factors that have led to the impressive sales.”

GM India recently launched the Chevrolet Aveo CNG in Ahmedabad. This launch is a testament to the importance that GM India attaches to green technology and environment friendly mobility solutions. This new offering is expected to appeal to both individuals and fleet customers due to the lower operational cost and expansion of the CNG stations footprint across the country.

It may be recalled that the company has ramped up production by adding the second shifts at Halol and Talegaon plants recently to meet the increased demand of its products. The company is also rapidly expanding its sales and service network to support the increasing market demand of its cars. It intends to take the network to 300 sales points and an equal number of authorized service outlets by the end of this year from the current 206 sales points and 200 authorized service outlets across the country.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited

Maruti Suzuki sales in May 2010

Over one lakh units – Highest ever sales in the company’s history

New Delhi, June 01, 2010: For the first time, car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited has sold over one lakh units in a month. The Company’s total sales were 102,175 units in May 2010. This included 12,134 units of exports.

The previous highest in total monthly sales was 96,650 units, sold in February 2010.

The company had sold a total of 79,872 vehicles in May 2009.

In May 2010, the company sold 90,041 units in the domestic market, up 27.2 per cent over corresponding month last year. This is the highest ever domestic sales in a month. The previous highest monthly domestic sale was 84,765 units, in February 2010.

The company registered highest ever domestic sales in A2, A3 and C segments respectively.

Mercedes-Benz India records best ever May sales in history; registers year-on-year growth of 112%

* Total of 410 units in May 2010 marking 112 % growth over May 2009 (May 09 : 193 units )

* Total of 2013 units sold in Jan-May 2010 which is a 59 % growth over corresponding period 2009 (Jan-May 2009 : 1267 units total)

* New technology debutante C 200CGI BlueEFFICIENCY sells a record 145 units within 2 weeks of Indian launch

June 1, 2010. Pune – Mercedes-Benz India today announced its sales performance for May 2010. The company sold a total of 410 units in May thus taking the cumulative total from Jan-May 2010 to 2013 units. The newly introduced C 200CGI BlueEFFICIENCY has emerged as an overwhelming favourite with 145 units of this model already sold in May (within 2 weeks of its debut in India).

Dr. Wilfried Aulbur Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India elaborated: “Introduction of CGI technology in India has been welcomed by our customers. This reaffirms our strategy to offer latest technology and class-leading products for our Indian customers.”
