BMW Confirms M5 Wagon: Wearing Black Camouflage

BMW has officially confirmed that they are currently working on M5 touring which will be sold alongside the M5 Saloon. Both to feature the same Hybrid engine and powertrain.

Unlike the M3 Touring, which was an idea for several generations but never put into production until now, the M5 has been offered in Touring guise a couple of times before. It was first introduced in the 1990s and later with V10 power in the 2000s. However, the upcoming model will be the first M5 wagon to feature hybrid power and all-wheel drive.

Several teaser images have been released, showcasing a disguised prototype of the 2025 M5 Touring from various angles. In addition, there is also a finished, undisguised car hidden under a black cover. These images provide a glimpse of an attractive wagon with a more upright tail compared to the new E-Class wagon. It boasts a prominent roof spoiler, subtly muscular fenders, and M’s iconic quad exhaust tips.

BMW M5 Performance statistics and Testing

The new M5 is expected to retain the 4.4-liter Twin-Turbo S63 engine, which previously advertised around 617 horsepower in the outgoing M5. However, it’s widely known that this engine actually produces higher power outputs, as seen in the F90 M5 Competition and the M5 CS. In the upcoming model, there are speculations that this engine will be combined with an electric motor, resulting in an astonishing combined output of 790 horsepower (800 PS) and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque.

Testing for this vehicle has recently commenced, and BMW has announced that it will undergo the full BMW testing phase, including assessments on urban roads, country roads, and autobahns. Additionally, the bespoke suspension will be evaluated to ensure it can handle the additional weight of the wagon body style.

In India, wagon body styles are incredibly rare, with only a few models available to choose from. It’s difficult to envision a regular 5-Series Touring, let alone a wagon from the M division, on Indian roads. However, it remains to be seen which body style BMW will ultimately offer in India.
