Ford Figo

2015 Ford Figo spotted in India; launch soon

Ford Ka Concept new next gen Figo (2)

The second quarter of 2015 will see two big launches from Ford India – the next generation Figo hatchback and compact sedan. While the Figo hatchback will draw from the Brazilian Ford Ka (below) and the Ka Concept(above), the compact sedan will be based on the Figo Concept Sedan seen at the 2014 Auto Expo, and will replace the current Figo and Fiesta Classic respectively.

Based on the same platform as the outgoing car, the 2015 Ford Figo will use a fresh petrol engine. The wheezy 1.2-liter petrol unit will be replaced by a fully-localized, naturally aspirated, 1-litre petrol engine based on the EcoBoost architecture. The current 1.5 liter diesel engine will soldier on, but will be tuned for more torque and efficiency.

The Figo hatchback was recently spied in India, and production will supposedly begin from 15th February (unconfirmed) at Ford’s Sanand plant in Gujarat, along with the Figo Sedan, followed by a launch sometime thereafter.

The Aston Martin – like grille: Unlike the Brazilian Ka, which has a mesh job, the Indian Figo (below) will sport horizontal slats (finished in piano black), like on the Ka Concept, Figo Concept Sedan and the Fiesta sedan.

The sides and rear will be similar to the Concept (above) as well, apart from smaller, 8-spoke alloy wheels (on the top end Titanium trim) and downsized tires on the production version (below).

ORVM mounted indicators seem to be standardized; but body colored door handles not so. Also, the handles are altered from the Concept (above).

The interiors are expected to be carried over from the Brazilian counterpart, apart from slight changes to trim, and of course, positioning the steering on the right side.
