The Baleno RS is the performance-oriented version of Maruti Suzuki Baleno which is priced at Rs 8,47,303 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car receives some sporty cosmetical upgrades and a powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged engine which comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Baleno RS is the sportier version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. It looks more stylish than the standard Baleno what with a honeycomb mesh grille fitted generously up front. The headlamp cluster comprises of projector headlamps with LEDs and also includes DRLs. Other differentiating styling factors over the standard Baleno include 16-inch dark chrome alloy wheels which are wrapped in 195/55 section tyres for better handling and grip around the corners. At the back, there's a Baleno RS badge and kit which is reserved for the top-spec Baleno.
The Baleno RS gets a blacked-out cabin with some silver inserts around the centre console. The fabric upholstery is cushioned well and it offers a sufficient amount of side and under thigh support. For entertainment, the Baleno RS comes equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. It can be controlled with the help of steering mounted controls. The automatic A/C works well in cooling the car's cabin on a hot sunny day. The storage spaces in the all-new Baleno consists of side pockets, glovebox, bottle holders, glass holders and 339-litres of boot space. The instrument console of the Baleno RS offers a tachometer with heat indicator on the left and a speedometer along with fuel gauge on the right. In the middle, it gets a TFT digital display which not only provides information about time, temperature and distance but also has a power and torque meter.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS offers ABS with EBD, dual-airbags, auto headlamps, anti-theft security system, reverse parking camera and reverse parking sensors in terms of safety aids. The car complies with pedestrian safety norms and gets ISOFIX points for fitting a Child seat at the back.
Under the hood, the Baleno RS derives power from a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol unit which produces respective power and torque output of 101 ps at 5500 rpm and 150 Nm at 1700-4500 rpm. The transmission duty is handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 3-cylinder, petrol unit is quite efficient and is rated for 21.1 Km/l. The fuel tank is big enough to store 37 litres of fuel at one go.
The engine of the Baleno RS is quite spirited in nature for its humble cubic capacity. It can help the car do a sprint from 0-100 in a smidgen over 10 seconds, which is nearly two seconds less than the standard Baleno. Ride and handling traits are similar to the 1.2-litre engine powered Baleno and things only feel a little more sprightly as there is a little more power from the engine to push a similar amount of weight.
2019 Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS price starts from INR 8.47 Lakh to INR 8.47 Lakh.

RS, an acronym thrown around on flat-bottomed steering wheels and tail gates of many a ‘performance-oriented’ car, means Road Sport in Maruti’s case.
