On 15th October, Mahindra launched its stalwart Mojo with an introductory price of 1.58 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) along with a host of added benefits for the first hundred customers, which included a two year nation – wide road side assistance package and an extended warranty of three years along with the standard two year cover. The ex – showroom price for the flagship bike now stands at 1.63 lakhs at the capital city.

The Mahindra Mojo is an affordable touring bike, the first of its kind from the Mahindra stable. The company has highlighted that the bike has cleared some of the most difficult certification challenges set by the IronButt Association of the United States of America. With this kind of certification labelled against its name, a price hike of INR 5,000 seems quite meagre given that the price is still below the 2 lakh mark. Customers still get a great deal for this 300 cc, 4 valve, single cylinder tourer bike which has managed to complete many challenges along with the toughest certifications available out there.

The Mahindra Mojo is definitely set to make touring a better experience for bikers with its liquid cooled engine which packs in a power of 26.8 BHP @ 8,000 RPM. The six speed transmission also allows for a comfortably smooth ride on the highways with a claimed fuel efficiency of 35 kmpl, which seems quite decent given its 300 cc engine.

The fuel tank can take in 21 litres of petrol and gives the bike a ride range of 500 plus kilometres, thus adding a boost to its touring capabilities. Given the current market conditions and a lack of strong products in this category, the future does seem bright for the new Mahindra Mojo. The price hike of INR 5,000 INR for such a bike is definitely not a deal breaker.
