All-New Hyundai Santro to be revealed at 2018 Auto Expo

Although it isn’t certain until now if the all-new hatchback will definitely be called the Santro, a new hatchback will be revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo. Spotted testing already before its official unveiling, it is expected to fill the void left behind by the now discontinued i10. For being a Hyundai, we expect the car to offer some segment-first features along with top-notch quality. The new hatchback is likely to use the 1.0-litre Kappa petrol engine from the Eon and could be offered with the choice of an AMT. There are also rumours that entry-level variants will be powered by an 800cc petrol engine. Based on a new ‘Hyundai family design concept’, expect this new hatch to go head-on against products like the Tata Tiago and the Maruti Celerio.

Facelifted Hyundai Elite i20

Still a very popular hatchback, the Hyundai Elite i20 will follow others Hyundais to put on a new face and fall in line into the family-look scheme of things. The premium hatch’s looks will be updated with a new cascading grille, updated headlights and front bumper, a new alloy wheel design and some new features on the inside. Mechanically, the facelift will be identical to the outgoing car.

Like the Elite i20, the facelifted Hyundai Creta too will carry changes which are more subtle rather than transformative. Expect redesigned bumpers, a different front grille and minor updates inside the cabin with the possibility of some new features. The facelifted Creta will soldier on with the existing set of engines.

With its striking looks, the Hyundai Kona will look to fill in the price gap that exists between the very popular Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tuscon. If not a conventionally powered Kona, Hyundai could showcase an all-electric version which could shake hands with the Government’s push to go all-electric by 2030. Internationally, the SUV comes loaded to the gills with various driver assistance and safety features which have helped it to achieve a 5-Star Euro NCAP rating.

Hyundai Ioniq electric

Since every car maker in India is already rushing towards dishing out more and more EVs, Hyundai could showcase their Ioniq which is powered by a 28 Kwh battery that lasts for 180 km on a single charge. Considering the current state of infrastructure for electric cars in our country, the Ioniq could be tailored to carry a bigger battery which extends the range and refills itself in quick time.
