Last heard, they don’t go drag racing with Hummers. Grant Fraysier from San Luis Obispo, CA, likes to think otherwise, and has spent the best part of three years building this amazing vehicle, which isn’t actually a Hummer, but looks like one.
The body is an all-aluminium affair, and is a fairly accurate replica of the Hummer H1. But what takes the cake here is the motor – a brand new, 615 cubic inch (10-liter) big-block Chevy V8 unit built virtually from scratch by Steve Morris Engines, with a monster ProCharger 136 supercharger running 41 psi of boost attached to the front.
Running massive, side mounted straight pipes and sipping methanol racing fuel, this beast is rated at a catastrophic 3,029 horsepower and 2719 Nm of torque! Top speed, however is a humble 113 km/h,but nobody’s complaining, as it decimates that figure from standstill in about 2 seconds!
The Dragster is also quite versatile in its approach, and can handle sand dunes like a Baja truck, but it does most of its drag racing at the Santa Maria Speedway on sand and dirt. Watch it rip below:
