Watch these exotics go sideways on Hakone ‘Mazda’ Turnpike, or Japan’s Nurburgring

The roads in question here are the holy Mecca of drifting. This is exactly where it all started. One of the most famous (or infamous) roads in Japan, the Hakone Turnpike was the place where a handful of racing aficionados huddled together and gifted the world one of the most spectacular ways to drive a car – going sideways on tar with a thick trail of smoke in the wake. Also known as the Nurburgring of Japan, the Haokne Turnpike, sprawled across a hill along lake Ashi has captured the imagination of motoring enthusiasts for decades now.

And the good folks at Motorhead magazine just did an act of charity by getting the road shut down and creating a spectacular video of a Hillclimb in some exotic machines. The guest list of the metallic members included legends such as the Ford GT40, the Super GT BMW Z4 and a few more.

Watch this excellent video where the drivers talk about the intricacies of this dodgy route, and witness them piloting their fast machines in all their smoking glory, courtesy some beautiful cinematography.  Watch the video, and let us know if you enjoyed it.
