Several speculations and false alarms later, the highly anticipated Lamborghini Huracan is finally here!
The new Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 will succeed the Gallardo, which is easily one of the most successful models to have ever come from the famous Italian supercar maker.
As has almost always been known to us, the new Lamborghini Huracan will be powered by the same 5.2-liter V10 engine that powers the Gallardo. However, for the Huracan, the motor benefits form IDS (Iniezione Diretta Stratifica), which is Lamborghini’s speak for a combination of direct and indirect gasoline injections, and produces a max power of 610 hp @ 8,250 rpm and peak torque of 560 Nm. All this power and torque translates into scintillating performance and the new kid on the block can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in scant 3.2 seconds, and to 200 kmph in just 6.7 seconds more. The car has a top whack of more than 325 kmph.
Other than getting a thoroughly revised motor, the Huracan also benefits from a new hybrid chassis that integrates carbon-fiber and aluminium. Thanks to this new age construction, the Huracán tips the scales at just 1,422 kgs.
The Huracan name comes from a Spanish fighting bull of the 1879. Lamborghini says that the bull has inspired the latest supercar with its “strong sense of attack” and high competitiveness.
The chaps at Greenpeace, who are always quick to dismiss off high performance cars as fuel guzzlers, will be pleased by the fact that the Huracán can average a fuel efficiency of 12.5 L per 100 km (that’s 8 kmpl) and emits 290 g/km of CO2, along with complying with EU6 emission norms. The car features Stop/Start technology as standard.
The new Lamborghini Huracan is likely to go on sale in spring 2014 and will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.
