Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E with F1 Hybrid Tech Launched

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the high-performance Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance sedan to the Indian market. This model, built on the Formula 1-inspired Performance hybrid platform, combines a turbocharged engine with electric assistance, creating the most powerful four-cylinder production engine available globally.

Powertrain and Performance

The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, enhanced with an Electric Drive Unit (EDU) on the rear axle. This advanced hybrid system produces an impressive 680 horsepower and 1,020 Nm of torque, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. This marks a significant leap in the power output of four-cylinder engines and underscores the engineering sophistication of the Mercedes-AMG division.

The model’s hybrid powertrain includes AMG’s specific E Performance P3 hybrid drive, which positions the combustion engine up front and the electric motor at the rear. This layout helps maintain an optimal weight balance for improved handling and agility, especially beneficial in high-performance driving scenarios.

Driving Modes and Technology

The C 63 S E Performance offers eight AMG Dynamic Select driving modes, including Electric, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Race, providing drivers with a customized experience suited for various road and track conditions. For enthusiasts seeking heightened control, the car features a fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system with Drift Mode, a feature making its debut on the AMG C 63 lineup.

In addition, the model incorporates an advanced AMG Ride Control suspension system with adaptive damping. This allows the suspension settings to be adjusted across three levels — Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ — to balance ride quality with the handling precision expected from a high-performance vehicle.

Interior and Features

The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance’s cabin prioritizes a blend of luxury and sportiness, featuring Nappa leather sports seats, carbon fiber trim, and a 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system. The interior is also equipped with a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch MBUX infotainment system, providing access to an array of connected features and vehicle settings. The model includes a head-up display to keep essential driving information within easy view.

The rear-axle steering, which offers a maximum steering angle of 2.5°, aids maneuverability, particularly during tight turns or high-speed cornering, adding to the vehicle’s dynamic handling capabilities.

Market Position and Pricing

Priced at ₹1.95 crore (ex-showroom, India), the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance targets the luxury performance segment, joining a range of high-end AMG models already available in India. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2025, with bookings now open for interested buyers.
