Upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross Gets Teased For The First Time!

The upcoming Innova Hycross which is slated to make its global debut next month has had its teaser image revealed by Toyota Indonesia showcasing the bold-looking front grille of the MPV with sleek headlamps and some parts of the bumper. The Innova Hycross is expected to first break cover in the Indonesian market where it will probably be launched under the ‘Innova Zenix’ nameplate. Toyota’s upcoming strong-hybrid MPV has been spotted testing in India multiple times and its India launch is expected in the first quarter of 2023 after the global unveil.

In the revealed teaser image, only the front of the MPV is seen sporting dual barrel LED headlamp units sitting on either side of the large hexagonal grille with an upright nose and an aggressive-looking hood with a sharp triangular-shaped foglamp housing on the bumper and a skid-plate lower down. According to the spied pics of the test mules so far, we can confirm that the MPV gets horizontally placed taillamps and 10-spoke alloys that fit the wheel wells nicely.

The Innova Hycross is built on Toyota’s global modular TNGA-C platform that also underpins the current-gen Corolla sold abroad. This is the first time that an Innova will be built on a monocoque-type chassis with a front-wheel drive layout resulting in the Hycross having a flat floor. With its 4.7 meters of length and 2,080mm of wheelbase, the new Innova Hycross promises to be larger and significantly roomier on the inside with multiple 7 & 8-seater configurations offered by the company making it practical. Under the hood, the Hycross will be powered by a strong-hybrid petrol engine with no diesel on offer as we’ve seen with the Urban Crusier Hyryder. The Innova Hycross will use a 2.0-liter engine for the hybrid powertrain making around 190hp that will be sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT transmission.

The Japanese MPV crossover is expected to come equipped with a host of safety features such as ADAS as part of the Toyota Safety Sense platform. It could include features such as lane departure alert with steering assist, dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, etc. Toyota could also offer 6 airbags as standard right from the base variant in order to meet the 6-airbag mandate coming into force in October next year i.e., 2023. The interiors would come loaded with a touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree parking camera, a sunroof, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and captain seats for the second row.
