Hyundai Plans 26 New Models For India By 2030!

Hyundai seems ready for a much bigger game in India. The company has confirmed a large product and manufacturing plan that will add more choices for buyers over the next few years. By 2030, Hyundai plans to launch or update 26 models in India, covering petrol cars, electric vehicles, hybrids and extended range electric vehicles.

The announcement was made at Hyundai Motor’s 2026 CEO Investor Day in Seoul. India is one of the important markets in the company’s global product programme, which covers more than 100 new or refreshed vehicles across 18 segments.

What Hyundai has planned for India

The 26-model programme will cover several types of vehicles. Hyundai says there will be seven new nameplates along with refreshed products. Key points include:

  • 26 models planned for India by 2030
  • Seven new nameplates will be introduced
  • More SUVs will join the range
  • New electric vehicles are part of the plan
  • Hybrid and EREV models will also expand
  • A new midsize petrol SUV is under development
  • An India-specific small electric SUV is planned
  • MPVs and off-road SUVs are also part of the global programme
  • Hyundai wants SUVs to make up 80% of its India sales by 2030
  • More locally built models will support exports

New electric SUV coming this year

One of the first major launches from this plan is a small electric SUV scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. Hyundai is developing this model specifically for Indian customers.

The compact EV has already been spotted testing in India. Hyundai has not shared its battery size or range yet, but the company has confirmed a new infotainment system and Level 2 ADAS.

The new model should sit below the Creta Electric and give Hyundai a smaller EV option.

Another SUV will use a petrol engine

Hyundai is also working on a new internal combustion midsize SUV for India. Test vehicles have already been seen on Indian roads.

The SUV is expected to use the company’s existing platform and could get petrol and CNG powertrain choices. It will add another option to Hyundai’s SUV portfolio and compete with models such as the Maruti Victoris.

Production capacity will also rise

Hyundai is planning a major manufacturing expansion in India. The company wants to add 3.2 lakh units of annual production capacity by 2030.

Its Indian plants currently have capacity of around 11 lakh vehicles every year. Hyundai also wants more than 90% local content in its India-made vehicles.

More than 1,400 domestic suppliers and over 900 local engineers are expected to support this expansion.

Around 30% of vehicles made in India could be exported to markets across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America.

Hyundai is not going EV-only

Hyundai’s future product strategy will cover more than battery electric vehicles. The company is also putting more attention on hybrids and extended-range electric vehicles.

The wider global plan includes a new Tucson, Tucson Hybrid, Ioniq 3 and Santa Fe EREV among the first seven products expected over the next eight months.

The Santa Fe EREV is planned for the first half of 2027 and is expected to offer more than 600 miles of combined range.

Hyundai expects EVs to account for 60% of its sales outside India by 2030, compared with 23% in 2025.

India gets a bigger role

Hyundai has already announced plans to invest ₹45,000 crore in India over five years. The company also wants India to become its second largest global region and an important export base.

The India strategy is part of a much larger global expansion. Hyundai plans nearly 1.3 million additional production capacity worldwide by 2030, with 3.2 lakh units coming from India.

The company is also working beyond passenger cars. Its plans include pickups, light commercial vehicles, robotics and autonomous technology.

Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis is expected to enter India in 2027, and Hyundai is continuing its electric three-wheeler partnership with TVS Motor. The company has set a global target of 5.55 million vehicle sales by 2030. For India, the message is simple. More models, more powertrain choices and greater local production are now part of Hyundai’s long term plan.
