There is a new name in MG Motor India’s electric car range. The Hector Tomahawk EV has now been launched in India, and it is the first MG model here to use the company’s new ADAPT architecture. It also gives buyers something not very common in this price bracket: a choice between five and seven seats.
The SUV starts at Rs 19.49 lakh for outright purchase. With MG’s Battery as a Service plan, the starting price drops to Rs 13.99 lakh, although buyers then pay Rs 4.90 per km as battery rental.

Performance
The Hector Tomahawk EV uses a 69.2kWh LFP battery with a single electric motor. It produces 204hp and 310Nm. MG claims a 517km MIDC range and a 0 to 100kmph time of 8.2 seconds.

Charging support includes a 7.4kW AC charger and a 90kW DC fast charger. MG says a 30 to 80 percent charge takes around 35 minutes using the faster charger. A portable 15A charger is also available.
Exterior
The Tomahawk EV gets LED projector headlamps, DRLs and an illuminated MG logo at the front. The SUV also has 18 inch dual tone alloy wheels, roof rails, black body cladding and a powered tailgate.
At the rear, wraparound LED tail lamps and a sculpted bumper give it a wide appearance.
The SUV measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,770mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,810mm and ground clearance stands at 230mm.
Interior And Features
The cabin has a large 15.6 inch touchscreen along with an 8.8 inch digital driver display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and gesture controls are also available.

MG also offers several cabin modes such as Nap, Camp, Energise, Pro Pet, Valet and Quiet. Connected car functions, voice commands and GenAI features are part of the package too.
Space And Seating
The five seat model has 610 litres of boot space. Folding the second row increases this to 1,053 litres. The seven seat version has 192 litres with all rows in use and 528 litres when the third row is folded.
Safety And Technology
The Tomahawk EV gets Level 2 ADAS with features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, traffic jam assist, front collision warning and automatic emergency braking.
It also gets ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold and an electric parking brake.
One of its most interesting features is V2H technology. The SUV can send power from its battery to a compatible home setup. V2L can run external electrical devices and V2V can transfer charge to another electric vehicle.
Rivals
The Hector Tomahawk EV will face electric SUVs such as the Mahindra XEV 9S and Kia Carens Clavis EV. Its three row layout gives it another reason to attract families looking for an electric SUV with more seats.
MG has also confirmed that a PHEV version of the Tomahawk is planned for India.
